Kite surfing sessions are 3hr in the water spread over 5-6 classes and are structured by IKO International standards and BKSA. We keep our classes small, no more than 1:2 pupil to instructor ratios, so as to maximise what you learn from your session.
Our classes are taught by a certified Level 2 IKO instructor, whose local knowledge and professional expertise is an extra bonus for students. We teach only on top of the range Liquid Force kite equipment in the school and will launch from the most suitable location determined by the weather conditions on that particular day.
Each level of the kite course must be completed and understood before moving along to the next level. We pride ourselves on teaching excellence and our lessons are guaranteed safe, fun and value for money. Lessons include all the equipment you will need for your lesson – a range of kite sizes, kite board, bar and lines, harness, impact vest, wet suit, booties and helmet.
Beginner Intro Lesson 1 – 3 hours

Pigeon House Road near Sandymount.
These infamous Poolbeg Station towers are the backdrop for this perfect location. Located off the Poolbeg peninsula, the area is tidal and creates perfect lagoons and sand banked channels, ideal for beginners and improver classes. The area is heavily tidal but shallow and safe for first timers and gets a wide range of wind directions.
Salthill Beach, Monkstown.
The Martello tower north of the beach is a popular destination for swimmers but the southern end is an ideal launch area for SUP boarding, kiting and wind surfing. It is only workable a few hours or more a day and is very wind direction dependent.

The IKO International Kiteboarding Organisation is the world’s leading teaching and safety standard for kitesurfing. It is the most recognised standard on the planet. Once a student has taken part in a course the students receives a IKO card which shows the level of instruction the student has received and allows the student to travel to different IKO schools and join other training programs and/or rent equipment from other local clubs and schools.
Aboveboard is IKO affiliated and therefore will become a globally recognised school. All students will receive a IKO card and IKO number. Students who have had lessons through our Centre will need to register online with the IKO after they receive their card and then they will have to fill in a report on the instructor and give feed back to IKO head quarters to help maintain and regulate teaching standards.

Make your kites and spinnakers good as new with Ultramar Kite Re-fit. Simply shampoo the kites with this specialised product and then once dry spray on the coating to reveal a kite with a facelift. The coating provides 100% UV protection and acts as a water repellent, making the kite is less prone to mould and staying cleaner longer.
It also improves the overall shape retention and air tightness so it lifts better, restoring the natural cracking and snapping qualities as we are so accustomed to hear with a new kite. Generally this product guarantees less ware and tear and will last longer in the long run.
